Claire has a range of experience in town planning and environmental law. She is the co-author of the chapters on coastal planning and environmental litigation and dispute resolution for the text book "Environmental and Resource Management Law" Third edition, Lexis Nexis, 2005. Claire’s particular areas of expertise are:

- Coastal development and planning
- Consenting issues for secured landfills
- Resource management issues for the energy sector
- Notification issues under the RMA
- Judicial review proceedings
- Due diligence for the environmental aspects of property and commercial deals
- Prosecutions under the RMA.
