She has a wide range of experience in all aspects of town planning and environmental law, and is also a LEADR accredited mediator with an interest in alternative dispute resolution procedures. Julie has acted as a tutor on the New Zealand Law Society Litigation Skills course for a number of years.
Julie has a particular expertise in:

- Private plan change applications
- District plan changes and district plan reviews
- Designations
- Resource consent and subdivision applications
- Public interest group issues
- Local Government Act issues
- Presenting cases in a range of forums including before District Councils, the Environment Court and in the High Court.
